Dilemma...

I was cleaning out my refrigerator the other day and I found an acai berry mix to make an acai bowl. Have you ever had one? They are delicious, healthy and are extremely popular here!

Anyways, I had all the ingredients except bananas. I have never had good luck when I buy bananas. I can never eat them fast enough before they ruin. I decided a while ago to buy bananas when they were on the greener side so they will be ripe by the time I am ready to eat them. This works well, but they still ripen pretty fast because I live in a hot climate. I decided to google how to keep bananas longer and a lot of places suggested a banana stand.

Two Friday's ago I went to the grocery store to buy bananas, low and behold they were selling extremely cheap banana stands, so of course I bought one. I also decided to buy the greener bananas because I wanted to wait a couple of days before I made the acai bowl.

Well.. a couple days passed and the bananas were still extremely green. I thought, man my banana stand must really be working, that was a good two dollars spent! A couple of days later, my bananas were still green. I told David I didn't know if they were still green because of the banana stand or if they were just green bananas?

Can you see my dilemma?

Eleven days later and my bananas are still green. This is one amazing banana stand.

(I use apple juice instead of orange juice. Some people use soy milk. I also add some frozen strawberries or blueberries in the blender)

Bucket List...

Have you ever seen the movie Sleepless in Seattle? I love that movie. I actually love any movie with Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks in it together. (You've Got Mail)

Anyways, there is a part in the movie where Tom Hanks is telling the radio host about what made his wife so special.

"She could peel an apple... in one long, curly strip. The whole apple."

Later on in the movie, Meg Ryan is sitting in her kitchen listening to Tom talking about his wife and she is peeling an apple in one long strip.

I have no idea how old I was when I first saw the movie, but ever since the first time I watched it I wanted to peel an apple in one long strip. Now, I know that might sound ridiculous, but I have always wanted to do it. Every time I pick up a potato or apple to peel, I always try to peel it with one try. I have put it on my bucket list. The closest I ever got was peeling it into two strips.

Well, that was until today!! Today I planned on making mashed potatoes and I successfully peeled the potato in one long, curly strip! Like I said, I know it sounds ridiculous, but it made me so happy!

It's the little things in life that make me happy.
